The NPSIA Students’ Association (NSA) has a mandate to foster an environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and professionally. This is no simple task when almost one hundred new students join the NPSIA ranks every year; coming from various academic and professional backgrounds in the social sciences, business, and law. As such, the greatest challenge and priority for this year’s Students’ Association was to bring all of these individuals together as a community. We hope, and we truly believe that we rose to the occasion.
This past year has been a year of tremendous growth for the NSA. Not only did participation and engagement increase from previous years, but we also introduced new initiatives such as the official blog, lunches with alumni, the ski/snowboard trip, skating on the Canal, board games night, and the summer barbeque. Further, we continued the traditions left to us by great Students’ Associations of the past, which included the Halloween and Ugly Holiday Sweater parties, cluster vs. cluster trivia, business cards, community wear, and intramural sports teams. We aimed to carry on the legacies of these events by putting them on bigger and better than years before.
None of this could have been accomplished without all of the hard-work and dedication put forth by your 2012-2013 NSA executive council. They truly went above and beyond, and we as Co-Presidents are extremely proud of their collective efforts and the exceptional outcomes that resulted from it. They deserve all the credit.
Finally, we hope you have all had as great a year as we have. It has been our pleasure to serve such a distinguished and energetic student body, and we value greatly the strong relationships we’ve built along the way. Moving forward, we encourage each and every one of you to stay engaged with the NPSIA community whether you are still working on completing your degree, or whether you are an alum navigating your way to the upper echelons of the international affairs world. Perhaps the single greatest strength of our School is the unrivaled support network you’re able to build while you’re here, so please continue to rely on each other, and always lend a hand to those who may need it.
On behalf of the entire Students’ Association and ourselves, thank you all for an incredible year!
Your 2012-2013 NSA Co-Presidents,
Taylor R.W. Bentley Fred Ninh
