Happy Reading Week!

Although you may indeed be doing a lot of reading during Reading Week, we hope you do get a chance to relax, sleep in and have some fun over the break. In honour of your right to leisure, we have put together a list of places, events and activities you can check out if you’re staying in the capital region.

Dance in the snow (tonight) at The International’s Heat Wave.

Take part in Winterlude: skate on the Rideau Canal, tube down an ice slide at Jacques-Cartier Park, order from the Winterlude menu at one of the festival’s official restaurants, or visit one of the special exhibitions at the National Gallery.

Be a spectator at the Gatineau Loppet, the largest cross-country skiing event in Canada.

Watch the Senators play the Leafs, Islanders and Rangers at Scotiabank Place.

Celebrate Black History Month with a variety of events, including the Ottawa Storytellers session at the National Arts Centre.

Get tickets for another featured event at the NAC, like the classical music tribute to The Beatles.

Try a variety of local food and craft beer and at the WinterBrewed festival.

Or, take the Craft Beer 101 class at the Kichesippi Beer Company brewery.

Also, have some more beer while playing board games at the Hintonburg Public House.

Visit the Eleven Women Facing War exhibition at the Canadian War Museum.

Hike, ski, snowshoe or camp in Gatineau Park, where you can also celebrate Heritage Day.

Be a good friend and proactive community member during Ottawa’s Kindness Week.

Enjoy hip hop karaoke at Babylon on Bank Street.

Learn about Ottawa’s early history at the Bytown Museum’s Rebranding Bytown exhibition.

Watch the Oscars live at the Glebe’s Mayfair Theatre, or check out one of the films playing during the week.
